Jim- I can second your report. Fished last Saturday and caught a bunch. Upwards of 40 probably. But it was hard to find any that would go over 8.5" most were around 7" - 7.5". I have never seen so many small ones without catching a decent keeper along the way. I don't know if the bigger fish are just scattered or further down river. I fished into NC waters some as well, but didn't get on anything down there either. Maybe once the weather cools the bigger fish will show up. But with the numbers of fish right now, next year we should have a nice class of fish to catch.

Well Jim as of late June I was hamering them way down the river in NC. As I was also pulling them in out of Tulls creek. Both east and west of Pointers ramp. Going to try to get out Monday morning, and see what I can catch. Between working, and helping a friend my fishing has been on hold for a few months. Walked out this morning and I swear my boat was crying that she missed me.

I've been down there for crappie off and on this summer as well. I've had some fish topping 12", but most are about 8-9. Not many keepers. I've been fishing from the shoreline to the middle and everywhere in between. Certainly a strange year for me as well.

Glad to hear your getting out some Jim. Small fish are better than no fish.

Went out Monday and slammed the gills. Not a crappie one, but oh man what a blast they were on ultra light. Put in at Shingle landing, yea it's down in NC, but very quiet.

I fished NWR a couple of weeks ago and we hammered them! We caught 162 crappie but most were small. All were under 9 inches. With alot being under7 inches about the smallest run of fish that I have ever seen there.
