    Default Rough day on NWR

Left the dock breaking through the ice and fished hard for 4 hours with nothing to show. The water was dirty and the temp was 32.1 to 33.9 and a full moon! Well better luck this weekend.

Sorry to hear. I bet that ice melt with all that 32 degree water hitting the river system was a shock to the fish. That and the dirty water is a bad combination. They will turn back on.CF

The last time I broke ice on the NWR was on 1-1-2011 and all I got to show for it was one small crappie. (I keep a fishing log) Extra tough to catch crappie with ice on that river.

Did that a few times myself. Whenever I pulled up to the ramp and saw skim ice I would suck it up and run all the way to Tulls and fish the bridge.

Thought of going to Tulls a few times. How long did it take you to run from Bobs to the bridge at Tulls Bay?

George I recall that day as I was behind you. I will never forget the sound ice makes as it breaks under the boat. At least a alum hull. Its not a bad run to Tulls Creek. As I live just down the road from that bridge. Like three miles if that. I have put in at Tulls Bay and ran to Bob's. I don't like it on some days as the shallow bay can really get wiped up. My little 16' takes a beating as I.
