Been slow winter for me. Fished deep in Burnt Mills in front of stump field twice in January with a skunk and 3 12 inch fish. Gave Meade a try twice in the last week. First time trying Meade. I was surprised how narrow the river channel is. Caught about 20 fish each trip in 20 feet of water right off bottom. Most were small. Last trip 3 largest (11-12 inches) were on minnows and the smaller fish (7-9 inches) on blue BGBS. Both trips the rod tips were barely moving. Very soft bites.

@TomO I have fished meade but that years ago I think the last time was 2008. but if I remember correctly the bite picks up as the temperatures warm on those lakes. but I cant wait until the spring and hit the stump field there I'm hoping the crappie bite will be strong on there. along with lake prince as well.

Nice fish, Tap-out can chime in on them lakes as he is the expert. I used to fish Mead, but that was I while ago also. My buddy and I are putting together a boat to fish them again soon.

I scheduled my shoulder surgery for Jan. 9 since if I have to miss two months of fishing I pick January and February as they can be tough. Went out mid January on Burnt Mills one day and caught 56 off the bottom in deep water. Went back two weeks later and got shut out trying the same spots. I have only fished Meade a hand full of times. I think 20 crappie on those lakes this time of year is excellent work, nice job.
