Those are some beauts!!
...the YP bite helped make up the difference. Here are two of today's 4 citations (13.5" and 14.5"):
I'm fishing for crappie, but they're scarce. Fortunately, most of the same spots hold at least an
occasional YP. When I concentrate on submerged points, the numbers of YP climb. Both species like
minnows, jigs, and combos--especially when the jig is chart/chart with a hair tail. Did I mention grass?

Nice YP, good eating there.
Yes and yes! Ounce for ounce, they put up quite a battle, too. Anyone who needs a YP for Master Angler stands a great chance of finding one here year-round. So far this year I have 25 citation YP...without targeting them specifically!

Awesome! Are you fishing minnows? I ask because I was fishing at DR the other day shallow and kept getting bites but no hookups. Finally got one to stay pinned and it was a jumbo perch, wasn't sure if I needed to downsize.
Nice fish!!!!! Think you will figure the crappie on LRC
Corker, those are some kinda nice! did ya use the pinky jigs?
I'm drift-trolling minnows on jigs on a modified canepole/cork rig. The 14' angle poles, corks, and downlines are traditional, but I'm using a large (1/4 or 3/8 oz) ball-head jig instead of a comparable weight split shot plus bare hook or Pinky size jig. The ball shape doesn't hang in the grass as much as a shot or slip sinker. I pour the large jigs on my normal #2 hook, dress them with kiptail or artificial hair and stick with chartreuse and yellow. Crappie usually like to see a minnow on the hook, but the YP aren't so picky.

Great info, thanks!
yeah Corker, thanks for that info!
