Nice!! I tried YP fishing 3 or 4 times earlier in the year, and mostly drew a blank. I haven't caught 25 all year. And the couple of times I have been to LCR, was mostly a blank also. I know you have them figured out there. Thanks for the post.
Super nice jumbo's. Best eating fish there is IMO. Great info. Thanks!

Those are some awesome specimens! Congrats.
Corker, do you live on LCR? Theres a gentleman I saw out there every day just about spider rigging two weeks or so ago. Was just wondering if that was you.
So I will try to ask this in a way that doesn't require any inside info, but I have always had the best luck from that old road bed on uplake. Spoke to a couple guys the other day who said they wore the crappie out way up past the power lines this spring. Do you find the best action is in the northern, shallower end or do you fish all over?
corker I'm glad to see you post, almost didn't recognize you without your conductor hat

Other than when they are spawning, it's tough to find a concentration of crappie in LCR. There are several reasons, but mainly there's almost no structure. Not counting the launch and fishing piers and the footbridge behind the park office, there are only two manmade structures in the lake: the pumphouse and dam/overflow outlet. There are no bridges, docks, or anything else with pilings. When the reservoir was created, all trees and stumps were removed (with the possible exception of the 60' deep areas.) Waterworks deployed no brushpiles and prohibits the dumping of anything into the lake. Arguably, the surface of the moon has more structure than the bottom of LCR. All we get is a few laydown trees, submerged points, a few humps, and grassbeds out to depths of 21'. Since these features can be found throughout the lake, patient exploration can produce an occasional fish almost anywhere. Eventually (measured in years), you will find a few good spots that are more or less predictable. All bets are off, however, when Waterworks pumps the lake down in drought years. In summer 2010, for example, the lake was down 15' below full pool. Since 15' is my favorite depth to fish, that meant that 100% of my good-old-spots were gone!
Fishing since '50!
