Default VA Beach family trip safety

Taking the family to VA beach for a couple of nights. Inflate tires, top off gas tank, seatbelts, I-64 traffic and speed limits, park and lock doors, don't flash cash, don't leave valuables unattended etc...................All the little things a parents takes care of. A parents only has to worry about the small stuff, cause someone else has and is providing real security for my family.

Thanks to all that have and are serving in the United States Military. Because of them, all my kids have to worry about is kid stuff. Homework....leaving your cell phone at Dairy Queen......zits. What an awesome place to raise a family.

Boy has turned 14 and is smelly and grumpy and anti-school and will soon hate his parents, but he did grab the binoculars and get the number off the ship. Pulled up Google on his phone and read us off the details. Then proceeded with a 10 minute lesson on the history of Carriers past, present and being built in Newport News. Thank you Lord for little special moments. We live in a special place with a lot of top notch people!

I do believe that is the USS Harry S. Truman.

Looks like I put this in the wrong forum. Can a mod move it over for me?

Yup, that is Harry. I was on the Nimitz (which was the first in that class) when I retired. I really miss it. Well not really.

I was on the USS Corry a destroyer about 1/3 the length of that ship and with 275 personnel vs 3000 on that carrier.

I work on the Navy base and "have" to go on ships all the time. Even got to helicopter out to GW a couple of years ago, land on deck and ride it back in. I got paid, to boot!

I want to echo your sentiment about fine people serving for us...BIG THANKS!
