Default Paging fishdoc - need another rod recommendation

fishdoc - a few years back you recommended the Shimano Clarus css-60ULA rod to me. I bought 2 of them and they quickly became my go-to rods. Everything about them was just right for casting jigs. I used Shimano Sahara 750 and 1500 reels on them. Your advice was spot on!

I broke 10" off the tip of one the other day. And while I put a new tip on it I know it has lost that nice sensitive feel. What do you recommend now? I ask since I don't see this same css-60ULA for sale anymore.

    Thanks

Wasabi, have you looked at the Shakespeare Micro Lite rods at WalMart? They make a 7 foot light action that is a great rod for the price. I have used them for about 5 years and like them, even though they are made in China. They also have a 5'6" that is great for dock shooting.

Certainly not Doc...but Berkely lightning rod from sportsman guide at $27 is incredible...most places sell it for $39. 6' medium lite. Killer rod. I have been throwing 1/24 red sickle hook jigs and 2" rubber jigs all spring. I love this set up.

wasabi, I'm still usin the Shimano, but they makin them with IM8 graphite an the new number is CSS-60ULB. This is my favorite for castin as well as shootin docks as it has a little stiffer lower half. You can shoot a jig as far as you can cast it with this tool! I've been matchin it with the Shimano CI4 Stradic in the 2500 size an haven't used a better combo. the larger diameter of the 2500 size spool really makes a difference in line coilin or lack thereof. with 4 lb Sufix Elite in the yellow (for these ol eyes) I don't think you could beat this combo! Hope this helps!

Awesome, thanks! I'll track down the new model then. It really was a sweet rod. I'm glad I still have one.

I'm still running some older Sahara 750's on mine. I had a Sahara 1500 on one and it felt unbalanced every time I grabbed it after using the one with the 750 on it. Just makes me wonder how the balance would be with a bigger 2500 class reel. Obviously works for you.

the Shimano CI4 Stradic 2500 weighs 7 oz, balances perfectly with this rod. Its got a carbon fiber body that reduces weight.
