How's the bite west of Richmond?

I went to an Albemarle County lake last weekend and found a few fish scattered outside of coves. No fish in coves, no fish shallow. Water was 54 - 60.

I heard Sandy River was on fire. Just small ones though. Briery should cut loose any day now. I was fishing Holiday Monday evening, could not get a smell of a crappie. Did catch 18 other feeshes though. Green ones to 3 pounds. James river is high and rolling up here. Another inch on Sunday and we can fish out the back door.

Water was warmer today - 64 to 66 and fish were staged just inside the mouth of coves. No tuxedos found shallow though which surprises me.
