Great pics.
Decided to spend this weekend fishing at Quantico MCB. Saturday we hit Smith Lake. Water was clear and 68. Not a crappie to be found. Ended up with a few ,nice sun fish and a few small bass. Daughter was having fun holding the fish.
Today my oldest and I wet back and hit Brekenridge.. This is a tough lake to get into as the launch is very primitive and you need to navigate water that is 18 to 24 inches deep for at least 1/2 mile. There is just barely enough water to float the boat off of the trailer Water was murky and only 61 degrees. Found some small crappie in the blow downs that have produced in the past. Vertical jigging and casting both worked. Fish were about 12' down.
Ended up with about 40 small crappie and a number or other assorted species. As we were pulling in one of the larger crappie a saw a very large bass come up and take a swipe at it. I thought it missed until the rod got very heavy. I was able to get in nearly boat side before it release the stunned crappie. The crappie was 8" and I'm thinking the bass was easily 6+ lbs. it would have been cool to land that one. Later on that bass or others took swipes at two other small crappie.
Almost bass lunch.
Great pics.

Not a good day fishing, but a great day with your kids; that's what really counts.
Superb pictures, happy kids faces are always better than big fish.
