I will admit that I am one of the lurkers for the most part... I participate more in the jig tying section... LOL, but with that being said I live in Southwest Virginia and the closest lake to me is South Holston Lake whch I never see any reports on or hardly anything about. I mostly just see what you guys are catching just out of joy of seeing fish or seeing what you caught them on/ technique or what not. I hope that you guys continue to post information on what you caught depth technique or what not but, as far as location I have no clue where the majority of the lakes are even located that your fishing... lol I plan on posting pics of crappie I catch at South Holston this spring and hope to eventually get a boat and get out there at different times of the year to work on them. But, I plan to be more of a contributor this spring I've learned quite a bit from just reading what you guys post even if its bodies of water I've never been to or even some of them I've never heard of. Keep posting!

Come on over to Grenada or Sardis in Mississippi. You won't need a boat or life preserver, you can walk across the boats from Missouri and Illinois. And don't dare let them see you catch a fish, or you will be swamped with fishermen.

Sardis is a 9,800 acre lake--imagine how fast a crowd will fill one of our little lakes. Most of the places we discuss regularly average well below 1,000 acres.

I don't know if the worry is that smaller bodies of water will get fished out or just people taking advantage of information without contributing to the board. If it's about over harvesting, it will happen unless crappie fisherman start practing catch and release on a more regular bases. The fact is everyone has access to all waters and the popluation could be fish out on any given body of water any year, if enough people fish it and harvest 100 percent of the fish they catch.
If it's about using information provided on this board, that's an individual's call. If one person doesn't post about a lake, that doesn't mean someone else will not post areas, lures, and bodies of water. And with the electronics out there now you don't need as much help from other peoples posts.
The bottom line is, small waters can be over harvested and the people don't need this board to do it. What is the design of this site? Is it to help each other become better at locating and catching crappie, getting and giving advice on fish, tackle, boats, etc. or is it a place that we regulate what we post and who sees it etc. I'm not saying that is what is happening. Like I said, if we can't trust what is being said the board the board will no longer exist. People will simple not come here.
    Post what you want.
    Just my thoughts.
Keep some for the pan, let the larger ones go back for another day!

On all but a few bodies of water, keeping more than 25 specks is illegal.

No one's advocating misinformation. As CF said, there will simply be a couple of key pieces of information missing from some posts.

My 2 cents,I can understand not revealing a small lake ,I also think a lot of people just read the board to see how the fishing is and not to still one secret hole ,however it will be some no matter what that is trying to find your secret spots, that I would not reveal on board, but as for revealing what you are fishing with,if one do not reveal that then I think he should not report that days fishing,we are trying to help others learn how to become a better fishermen and not just showing how many we caught, in I hope less time than it took us who had to learn almost by our selves. As for revealing the bait I use ,it dosen't brother me because I belive if he can catch them that I can too and sometimes will fish behind them just for the fun of it,lets help others as much as we can without revealing where we caught them ,on board

Behind me, in front of me, beside me or with me...doesn't matter until I get this figured out. I have watched guys fishing in the same area as me this year and catch fish while I am just catching water. lol I feel happy to know someone is catching but then wonder what I am not doing, or doing wrong. I am sure I will get better but for now, practice, practice, practice and lots of reading. I like seeing what people catch them on, especially when I was fishing that day, so I can narrow down the options. Either way, I find this board incredibly useful, friendly and will continue to come back and can't wait until I can start helping some others out.

    Tight lines,

brian ,if possible try to team up with a knowledgeable fishermen and watch and ask him question, but in meantime slow bait down very slow, most jig fishermen until they learn fish much too fast, also count bait to desired depth

THIS kind of post is more helpful to those, like me, that aren't the seasoned learned fishermen that some here are. THIS kind of post is what I search for and learn from. BTW.. I'm a Virginia board "lurker"

Laura you don't have to be just a lurker. Your input is welcome all the time.
