    Default wall mart batteries

As a friendly reminder--I just wanted to say the new (used) boat I just bought has a pair of wall mart marine maxx batts in it . The seem to be acting like new!! (05 and 06 models) I am taking one of them to my boat in Deltaville, to be used as main batt!
If you guys are looking at replacing your batts, they need to be looked at! ( I know they are already used by many here)
( for some reason, I can only get 3yrs at most from interstate batts)

I've had good service from the MAXX batteries, too. The "age" of a battery has to be measured in charge/discharge cycles, not years. A battery that's rarely used and kept on a float charger will last a very long time. One that's fished several times a week and regularly drawn down below 12 volts before recharge will show signs of "age" within a year.

    Just bought one last night.
Was just browsing and then noticed the "born on date" was 01/12 so I figured that was a good thing.
Was the biggest Marine DC battery they had. Was $81 + $9 for a core. (which I didn't have).
Currently a non-fishing slacker! (not for too much longer)

Yes and the lower you draw it down and,or the longer you wait to charge it ,the quicker its life span, that is why I charge as soon as I can. Also a quick charge"high amps" weaken life span, not talking about a 10 amp charger ,but a quick charger

I agree 100%. My 24v TM would go all day on 2 batteries, but I carry 4 and switch them at lunchtime. That way, they all "wear evenly" and never get drawn down to a level that would damage them.

I removed the charger from the boat, because I was unfamiler with it and had other chargers. Also I could not see lights where it was mounted anddidn't know for sure it was working.. Because these batts are in such good shape and have a few (6-7)yrs on them I guess I can consider the charger a good one! Maybe I will reinstall it -- 3 bank 5/5/5 BPS (pro-mariner).
