Wow stunning colors! Thanks for sharing your outing with us
Found the time this afternoon for a short trip to open my '24 season. I launched about 2:30, just as the mostly cloudy sky began to loosen up and let the sun come through after a gloomy morning. Air temp was 56 and the water a bit cooler at 53. We've had quite a bit of rain this week and I wasn't expecting to fill the boat to start the season.
I expected the wind so it wasn't a surprise but it was quite a bit stronger on the water than here at home. Quite a few boats were already out ahead of me but it turns out that they were mostly on their way in as I was headed out and I ended up having the place pretty much to myself.
Marked lots of fish but none showed much interest in my trolled offerings and I gave up on that and moved in closer to shore to cast the shallows. Didn't take long to find the first little bluegill of the season to chase the skunk out of the boat. I'd stay there for the rest of my trip.
A total of 5 little 'gills would see the inside of the boat today, along with a perch of 10" and a pickerel of 13".
Wind really cranked up about 4:15 and I called it quits about 4:30 and headed for the beach. For the record, the wind still hasn't eased off so it was a good call to wrap it up.
It sure felt good to get back at it and hopefully I'll sneak in another trip before too long.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.S10CHEVY LIKED above post
