Open water at last!
Took a drive around to my favorite ponds and found open water, ice is gone. Never got what I would call safe ice for ice fishing so it's been a fishing-less winter around here.
Now we just need this cold north wind machine to shut down and for the rainy pattern we've been in to shift away from southern New England and my chances for getting out for an early start to the season would improve measurably.
I did strip and restring 5 rods yesterday so that task is off the list. Need to take stock of the soft plastics I use and refill where needed. Might get a few more packs of Crappie Magnets as they were doing pretty well last season.
Season finally feels like it's getting closer!

I'm not quite ready to sit on a boat seat yet but at least the start is in sight after a long layoff. I don't want an early season skunk to start off the season!
