    Default Still bitin', 10-25

This week is bringing some surprisingly warm temperatures and beautiful fall days to our neck of the woods and what better way to enjoy it than to grab the gear and hit the water. Which is exactly what we did; yes I said we as 870 had some spare time today and agreed to ride along finally!
We launched and had lines in the water about 3:40 with calm conditions. A little puff of wind now and then, air temperature at 71 and water temps out over the basin about 55 or so. We were in to fish right away with some decent perch and some average bluegill. I didn't snap many pictures of those as we were hoping to find a decent crappie bite. But the lighting was great and I snapped some foliage pics. I consider myself blessed to be able to fish in these surroundings.

We were pretty squeezed in my little rowboat but we found a way to troll 2 lines each and if we found a decent school, we were able to cast around a bit without hooking each other. I'm happy to be able to say that we found a few here and there, like these as an example.

That would be it for my pictures tonight but I'm pretty sure my partner has a few more. Most of my fish came trolling but I think he had a pretty even split of trolling and single pole casting when we'd stop after sliding over the marks on the sonar.
We had pretty fast action up until about 5:15 or so and then it seemed to slow down noticeably. We would get one here and there but the fast bite was the early part of the trip. Perch, 'gills and crappie were the mixed bag we ended up with tonight; all the 'gills got a pass, as did all but one perch and the smaller crappie that fell for our lures.
Clicker read 40 fish boated between the 2 of us when we called it a night at 6:15. We put 15-18 fish (1 decent perch and the rest crappie, I didn't count them) in the cooler. We worked together and got them all processed and I sent them all home with my partner for his family to enjoy.

Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
