With rain showers in the forecast for this afternoon, I decided yesterday to sneak in a trip this morning before they arrived. I was set up and ready for action about 8:15, air temperature at 46 and water temps between 56 & 57. Overcast skies but no rain threatening, calm other than a hint of wind, just enough to ruffle the leaves high up on the trees. We've got some color starting to show as well; some of the early ripeners have already dropped their leaves but the best is coming.

First fish came about 2 minutes after getting going, a nice perch of 11" who did not want to have his picture taken; I got even by tossing him on ice. I'd row around until I found a school and then try to jig them up. Conditions were calm enough to allow that but they all had lockjaw; couldn't buy a bite with a vertical jig presentation.
But they sure liked the trolled presentation, every fish today came trolling.

I had clipped on 2 of Micanopy's creations and they stayed on most of the trip until the color preference seemed to change as the sun got higher in the sky. They flat out produced today putting good fish in the cooler.

I had steady action until shortly after 10 and then things seemed to slack off some. I'd keep at it, with a reward now and then and called it quits at 10:50.
Clicker says 28 fish boated and 26 came home on ice in the cooler. I'd let 2 small perch go for a bit more growing up. 2 big perch and 2 dozen crappie, the smallest at a bit over 10", most close to 12" so all nice fish. Got 'em all cleaned up and ready for a future meal or 3 or 4.
