    Default Windy trip, 10-5

We had a lull in the work day yesterday and I skipped out an hour early for a trip to the pond before the rainy weekend.
I launched at 3:40, with the air temp at 74 and water temps out over the basin at 67-68. I expected the wind but it was stronger on the water than I expected. Steady from the NE and caused me all kinds of frustration as the evening went on. But the fish were out there, suspended 18-20' down over the deeper water, grouped up as they have been the last few trips.
I soon clipped on 1/16 oz. heads to get my baits down to them and that worked well.

Jig tyer Micanopy was kind enough to send me some of his creations and they accounted for a good share of the crappie last night and a nice perch, too.

I had a lot of fumbles last night; tangles, break offs, lost fish, you name it I goofed it up. Even having to cut one of my lures out of the net as the barb went through the string. It was sticking through the fish's mouth and there was no way I could unhook the fish. I tried and tried to free it and finally got the clippers out.
Regardless, it was a good trip with 18 fish caught and 13 of them ended up in the cooler on ice, 11 crappie from 10-12" and 2 good 'gills.
I called it a night at 6:20 as I'd had enough of the wind and mishaps and wanted to get to the beach before I capsized the boat or something major.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Nice catch. Fishing in the wind always seems to lead to a lot of fumbles for me too. Good work.
