Awesome. Always good to get out and enjoy the day and catch some fish. Even better when they end up on the kitchen table!
After looking at the weather last night, it seemed my best chance for getting in a trip this weekend would be this morning. I loaded up and got my first line in the water just before 8. Air temp a humid 74 at water's edge and water temps were between 78-80 out over the basin. I cast out my first line and before I could even set the pole down I had this little guy hit it hard.
He tickled the 9" mark so in to the cooler he went! I wanted to fish a different area than usual and continued on over that way, picking up a few small sunnies as I went, not picture worthy. I'd work that contour for nearly 2 hours, landing a few real small crappie and some smaller than average bluegills, perhaps 5-6", with a few even smaller than that.
I had arrived just as the fog burned off and the sun shone down with gusto; no wind to speak of so I was getting baked pretty well for a while there. A bit after 10 it began to cloud up as though we might be getting some of the pop up showers the weather guessers has warned about but no rain would fall. The cloudy condition was welcomed at that point and I decided to move over to my usual route for this water and see if I could find some larger and more active fish.
Good call as I found some perch and finally some bigger crappie for the ice bath.
Once again the green and white Stinger would be the lure of choice and I went through a few of them. It would work both trolling and single pole casting today.
I called it a day about 11:45 as the bite seemed to ease off from the good stretch I had from about 10:15 to 11 or so.
Keepers for today would be 3 perch, 2 'gills and 9 crappie from 9-12". Made for a nice bowl of fillets for a few meals for my family and I. Many smaller fish were tossed back to put on a few more inches and be caught again.

Great job. Hope the fish tacos were great. I love making them with my Crappie.
