    Default Took a frustrated buddy

So I have a friend who an avid fisherman, however the crappie have been a bit elusive for him, he's got plenty of gear just needed some guidance and a confidence booster. Most of his gear was a bit large and the colors were too flashy for the fish around here. Biggest problem was his hook set, he thought he was still largemouth fishing, lol,
We headed to the spot where 6lbtest and I go and hit the water about 6 pm, worked some weed edges for a while with some success. I was contributing to the cooler pretty good and ribbing him about his trophy hook sets. About 7:30 headed to a sweet spot and it was game on fast and furious for about an hour. Crappie were mostly all over 10" plenty of bluegill and a decent bass that had me worried he was going to snap off my new Roadrunner!

That's the way to get him going in the right direction. Light gear is a definite help in detecting the take so maybe he'll stimulate the economy a bit with some lighter equipment. Glad you were able to get him on some.

WC870 You have to teach him mot to set the hook (like bass fishing) but to raise the rod tip only. That will increase his catches. Also go with light gear ( I used to use 2# line) and found it increased the hits by 2X over 4# line. Don't forget up here in New England we are fishing in very clear water. Good times tto you. Tight lines.
