    Default Friday night fishing, 6-30

After a rather long but productive day in the shop, I found enough gumption to load up for some aquatic therapy. I launched and got my first line in the water a bit late at 5:25. A bit of wind to contend with but not bad. The haze in the air from the Canadian fires added a strange hue and hid the sun pretty well. I'd call it filtered light and it wasn't too bright. Air temp at 78 and water temps about 77 out over the basin.
I trolled the 15' contour alongside the weed edge and got my first fish in the boat about 10 minutes later. It would turn out to be the big fish of the night, too.

I continued along for about 40 minutes, with a couple more fish being caught, a few small 'gills and a fresh water shark, AKA a pickerel. I barely got him in the net as he broke me off just as I scooped him but I won. No pics on that one as he tangled 2 lines and flopped out of the net and was sliming up the whole boat; I grabbed and tossed him back in. He was roughly 18" or so. Seems like I've been getting quite a few that size lately.
The wind would lay down nicely about 6:15 and I was able to cast along the edge for a while. Here are some of the unlucky winners.

The wind would return for the rest of the evening and I would go back to trolling but the busiest part of my trip was over. I'd catch only a couple of small bluegills and 1 yellow perch for the balance of the trip and called it a night at 8:15, with a pinkish moon (smoke once again) rising over the trees.
Totals would be about 8-9 each crappie and 'gills, 1 each of bass, pickerel and perch.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Great trip and beautiful mixed bag of fish. Keep up the good times. Tight lines.
