Default finally back on the water

Sometimes life just gets in the way, I barely fished last summer and was off to a slow start this year. Last night I was able to get out on my boat with 6lbtest along for the ride. We had a slow time finding them but when we did it was fast and furious. we kept all the Crappie ( which were decent size) because I haven't had any in a while! I apologize for the lack of pictures we were too busy catching! Anyways.. Good to be back on the water, it even got me fired up to order a couple new Diawa Regal LT's. hope to have pics of the next trip!

We sure did have a good time. When we arrived and got launched around 5:30, there was someone working the area that we had hoped to work so we headed for a different spot where we'd both had good luck before on our own. 870 got on the board first and put the first crappie of the night in the cooler. Took me a long time to find one but I sure had the 'gills dialed in. Nice ones too, looked to be about 8"+ for the most part. All fish except the crappie would be returned tonight. I had the hot rod there for a while but that would change before too long, with me not catching much and him doing the catching.
We worked along the that shore and the drop off for much of the evening, mostly landing some nice sunnies, along with a big rock bass and a small pickerel. The other boat finally left "our" spot; we gave it a 15-20 minute rest while we fished along our path and then headed over to see what we might find. I think we had maybe 2 fish on ice before we moved.
We picked the right time or the right lure or something 'cause 870 started getting them on nearly every cast; he out-fished me by 3 or 4 to one in that spot. All crappie, too. I don't think we landed another 'gill once we moved to that little piece of real estate. For the next half hour or so it was "got one" or "fish on" on a very regular basis. As it got too dark to see the lines, the wind came back with some gusto and put the kibosh on our near perfect conditions and we called it a night about 9pm and headed back to the beach.
Lots of action, good company and a hefty cooler of fish that I didn't have to clean; life was great yesterday! I don't know how many we ended up with, I'll guess 15 or so, maybe a couple more. I asked him today how many and he didn't count; it was late and he was on autopilot cleaning them. Hopefully, we'll get a few more trips in over the summer. Fishing with a companion is a nice change on occasion.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Great to hear you are back. You have a good partner for an evening of fishing. Have many more in the near future. Tight lines to both of you.
