Mighty fine catches
I made sure the camera was in the tackle box as I headed out to see what I could find last night. We have lots of unsettled weather on tap for the next week so I figured I better get a trip in before the weather goes wonky.
A little breezy at water's edge with the air temp at 74 and the water temp at 72. I launched an had my lines in the water at 5:10.
I had my first fish in the boat at 5:11 and as I unhooked this 9" crappie, the other pole bent over with an average bluegill.
With that quick start I felt I might in for a big numbers night; wrong-O, Jim-Bob. I'd go another 45 minutes before this 8" 'gill got fooled.
I was both trolling and single pole casting and neither was producing. We'd had a heck of cloudburst on Wednesday afternoon and the the water was a bit murky so maybe that contributed to the slow day. I'd tried lots of things but it was just a slow night.
I clipped on a Crappie Magnet, Percy color, which is white and silver glitter. 2nd cast with it, this nice one took it with the classic THUMP!
A nice 8 1/2" bluegill would follow a few minutes later then another THUMP and this one came to the net.
Glad I had the net as there was no way I was going to boat lift those. A few more casts and another THUMP, a scoop with the net and another photo op.
I was a long way from the ramp and the clock was ticking toward dark so I headed back, trolling along the way. I'd not had much luck trolling this trip but did land another 'gill and this last crappie, a 10"er.
I tossed the lines back out for one last run closer to the ramp and got smacked by this solid bass, 14" on the ruler but very heavy and solid built.
I hit the shore at 8:40 with a smile on my face. Not much for numbers but some good size to the one's I did get. I was a happy boy on the ride home.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Good pics and catches. I like the Crappie Magnet Percy color as well. Thanks for sharing.
great outing. Outstanding catches for a short trip. Keep it up. Tight lines.

Those are some nice fish. Great catch. Haven’t been out for a couple of weeks due to bad weather around here. Keep up the good work.
