    Default Another trip, 5-7

Found myself with enough time this afternoon to make another trip to the same water I fished yesterday. 72 when I launched about 4pm, with high clouds filtering in after a bright sunny morning. Water temps seemed to be 58-59 most everywhere I went today, wind not as strong as yesterday but still a bother.
I concentrated my efforts in the deeper water today, 15-25' for the most part with good results. I'll say right up front that again, no crappie were found but the big hard fighting bluegills were happy to keep me busy. Today's players were on average bigger than what I was getting yesterday and a couple of them were starting to color up for the spawn, I think.

That's a representative sample of my catch today, most were 8" or better, many pushing 9". Forgot my board but they were big in my hand, and my hand is not small. Also had a few yellow perch that took my offerings on the troll in the open water.

'gills and perch would be the only species today as I trolled the drop offs and basin edges. Early in the trip, black with a chartreuse tail would be the lure of choice while later on as the light changed the Tennessee shad color and live minnow Stroll'R would be the hot ticket. The wind began to lessen about 5:45 and it would be pretty much calm when I left them biting at 6:30.
Totals for the trip would around 20 nice bluegills and 5-6 good perch. Despite not finding any crappie, I had a great time pulling in the hard fighting 'gills, even if they did put some serious line twist in my poles with their spin tactics once hooked.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

~9" bluegills definitely put up a fight on light tackle, and are a lot of fun to catch. Twenty of them and a half dozen nice perch is a fine outing, I'd say!

reat outing and results. Pearch and Bluegill dinners are wonderful. Keep it up. Tight lines.
