After a holiday weekend of dismal weather, I was ready for a trip to the pond to see what might be bitin'. I pushed off into a steady breeze from the south about 5pm, air temperature at 72. We ended up with about 3 1/2" of rain over the weekend, high temps of only about 50 degrees, and I noticed right away that the water temperature had dropped to 62 from about 72 on my last trip on Thursday. My first hookup came about 15 minutes in, a double on crappie! A good omen, maybe? Had my hands full getting them in so missed the photo op on those but a nice bluegill soon followed.
I forgot the measuring stick but this one was over 8". A long dry spell followed as I worked my way along the weed line and drop off. I moved over closer to shore and followed a different contour with no takers. Wind was a bit less there so I began casting and picking up fish here and there, both crappie and bluegill of average size. This one of about 12" gave me a welcome tussle.
A few minutes later, this guy took my jig hard and took me deep down in to the weeds but I won in the end. About 14-15", I guess; no idea of weight as I don't usually think in those terms while fishing.
The breeze died off about 7 and I turned to head back down the line toward the landing. As I got back near the contour that I had abandoned earlier, the bite picked up markedly. The crappie really turned on for about 30 minutes and some nice fish kept me busy as I cruised along the edge.
The fish above were all 11-12"; most of the others were about 10 or so, with a few little guys rounding out the catch. The bite didn't last too long and I turned for home, landing at 8:15.
All told, I boated 2 bass (the other being a feisty 8"er), about 8 bluegill and upwards of 20 crappie so a fine way to start off June.

I sure hope you do get fishing soon! I'm beginning to look like a loudmouth with my recent trips.
Sheesh, you'd think I was the only guy fishing here in New England! When I look at the forum and see all those little green marks at the start of the threads....I've either gotta stop fishing or stop posting....

Another great trip. Keep up the great times. Tight lines.
Great looking fish. Stay after them
