Gambled on the wind today, 10-10
I should have known better.....
I worked around the homestead here and kept an eye on the weather and especially the breeze. I hoped to have a chance to get out on the water after the chores were done but not if it was still windy. Seemed as though it might be slacking off a bit so I rolled the dice and headed out. Here are a couple of shots of some of the colors at lakeside. This is pretty much the same bunch of trees I posted on my last thread: here they are from 9-26:

And a couple more while the sun was out and warming my weary bones:

As you have probably guessed, I had a tough go of it. Launched at 3:50, air temp at 75 and the surface water temp at 61. Boat control was just a wish today; I had more twists and turns and end-arounds than I could count. Tried both going with the wind and rowing back against it; very little control either way. I finally tossed the white flag on this trip about 5:30. As the sun sank lower, the wind actually picked up rather than easing off; had whitecaps even before I called it a day.
I did keep the skunk out of the boat with this nice one, about 11" or bit better, taken with the paddle tail Slabilicious.

I also hooked and landed a 2nd crappie on the way in, about a 7 incher on the Roadrunner.
At least I tried, I hope conditions are a bit better for the next trip, whenever that might be. Hey, you never know unless you try, right?
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
