Conditions seemed to be perfect for a good trip; upper 70's, pretty much calm winds, sun getting more and more hidden behind the haze from the fires out west, so I headed out from work an hour early to take advantage of it all. Launched about 4, water temps about 69. I had lots of marks pretty much from the get go but they had zero interest in my trolled offerings. Pretty much tried all my usuals; zip, zilch, nadda.
I decided I ought to simply single pole jig for them so I paddled around and hovered over the next group I found. Dropped down a stinger and still couldn't talk one in to biting. Kinda frustrating. Switched over to a BG swim'r and finally got my first crappie of the night, about a 9 incher. Few minutes later I hooked the biggest of the night, about a 12" fish.

I couldn't get another out of that school so paddled out in search of more and finally hooked my first trolling, then shortly after got my last one of the day. Called it a night about 6:45, thankfully with no skunk in the boat. Maybe next trip I'll hit 'em a bit better.
