Nice pics and report. 67 is much better then my last trip. Good job guys!
We hit the Quabbin once again today. Our fourth venture this season. We started fishing around 8 am with the water and air at an equal temperature of 68 degrees. Breezes were variable to start with, but increased from 6 to 15 mph at times. Unfortunately, it was a variable wind direction which made our drifting direction difficult; but we persevered! The morning was hazy sun with quickly moving clouds in advance of a strong cold front. This is what she looked like:
The sun increased as the day wore on, but not significantly enough to ward off the cold wind. Glad we dressed for it! We didn't mark much in the way of fish today. We drifted over water from 12' to 24' of water throughout the basin. This was one of the few screen shots which showed promise:
Marking fish was far and few between, but we did mark a number of decent bait balls, which were surprisingly devoid of fish? Not sure what was going on there. In any case, we did manage to catch & release 67 fish today when we pulled off around 1:30 pm; 10 were bluegill, with the rest being crappie. In reviewing our past records, this September is shaping up to the best in 5 years! Not too shabby. Thinking it may because of the minimal fishing pressure during the spring & summer, but I'd rather think it was our superior fishing skill - LOL! (Believe that one and I have a heck of a bridge for sale you might be interested in!)
Anyway, here are a couple of the fish we caught today. Nothing of significant size, but the action was decent:
We did see an eagle a couple of times and this loon decided to visit us a couple of times as well:
We even had a fly over by redtailed hawk. All Good for sure. Hopefully we'll be able to get in another trip this week. Hope some of you had a chance to wet a line as well. God Bless America.

Sounds like another great day on the Q! I have to admit that while working today, watching the wind blowing pretty good around here, I thought to myself a few times, "I wonder if Rich and Walt are out fishing today and loving this wind?"
Looks like I was right, glad you guys got out to enjoy it.
I split firewood after work as it was too windy for me to get out.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
