Over the last week, I've had 2 different people tell me about a pond they are familiar with that I had never heard of. They assured me it was open to the public so I took a ride and dropped the boat in at the "launch" area they told me about and sure enough, I had the 1st fish in the boat within about 15 minutes of getting organized. Air temp was in the low 80's, water at 76. I launched at 4:30 with a pretty good wind and called it a night at 7:15, just as the things were calming down nicely. What they didn't tell me was to expect the ski boats and jet ski's buzzing around most of the time I was there. Kinda made things a bit more challenging but I managed. First a pumpkinseed, then a small bass, then the first crappie of the day, a nice one of about 10".

A bluegill or 2 later, this one became the first fish on the new TCB rod from B'n'M. Also a 10"er or a tad bit bigger.

I had good action for the first hour or so that I was there but then the bite dropped off and I went a long time before the final fish of the night, a basic bluegill but he did his best to keep from coming in to the boat so I'll give him a hero shot.

Final tally was I think 6 crappie, 7-8 mixed sunnies, and the one bass. I did lose a couple of bigger crappie right at the boat; both spitting the same jig head with some strong head shakes just before I could dip the net under them.
