Sunday evening outing, 7-5
I had to take advantage of the fine day we had here yesterday. Although it was hot at 88, the humidity was very low and comfortable with just a hint of a breeze. Perfect conditions for a trip to the pond to see what might be biting. I launched at 4:45 and left them biting at 7:15. I tied on my 3 favorite color stingers and kept them on all evening as each one was putting its share of fish in the boat. Water temp at 77. I had brought along a cooler to bring a few home. The 'gills were on the average to small size but I kept a few of the average sized ones.
A good number of 9-11" crappie were landed, with what I deemed the meatier fish making their way on to the ice in the cooler.
Near the end of my trip, I had a solid bite on the gray stinger and got a pretty good tussle from this big yellow perch; this might be my personal best perch. Back home, he was just over 13" by the tape measure.
Final keeper of the night was this fine crappie, also measuring just over 13".
Ended up keeping 5 crappie, 5 'gills and the one perch. I'd guess total fish for the night at about 15-18 crappie (bunch of shorties and real skinny ones), about the same for 'gills and pumpkinseeds, 4 bass and the one perch. No pickerel for a change, thankfully.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
