Very nice. I always enjoy your reports and photos. Thanks
It was one thing after another for Walt & I, but we finally had an opportunity to hit the Quabbin Res. today together! When we started fishing a bit after 8 am, the air was a nice, cool 62 degrees! Quite a change from the brutal heat wave last weekend with temps close to 100 and oppressive 74% humidity! Not sure what the water temp was, but from my previous trips, it had to be in the low to mid 80's. Light breeze made for a very pleasant outing. This is what our day started out like:
Doesn't get much better than this! We consistently marked and caught fish between 12 to 24 feet. Plenty of bait around as well. Here's one shot of the fish finder:
When we pulled off just after 1 pm (a good 5 hours of fishing), we had caught & released 68 fish; one yellow perch, 3 bluegill and the rest our target species, the crappie! Walt started out with the "hot" rod this morning, but I gave him a run for the money, closing the gag to an acceptable level by the time we called it quits. Biggest producer for Walt was the Slider grub; for me it was the BG Baby Shads. They seem to prefer "chicken" or natural color patterns today for whatever reason. I shuffled through a lot different colors throughout the morning.
We both cast & drifted (when the breeze allowed us to). Did not have our side pulling electric with us on this trip. Wish we had! Here are a few pictures of our fish today:
Here was the "biggy" for the day:
No real giants, but good quality fish on UL tackle. LOTS of fun! Great day to be on the water with a fine fishing partner. Got Bless America!!

Looks like you guys had a busy and rewarding day. Hope you get out again soon before the heat builds back in.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
That sounds like a great trip. Good to see you two back on the water together.
