Good report...you could smile tho lol
What a great day to go fishing! Low humidity, warm temps and light breezes. No one was available to go today, so I went up to the Quabbin myself and rented a boat! Haven't done that in quite awhile, but I'm more than happy that I did. Even though I left the house at 5:45 am, I didn't get started until about 7:30 am (long story!). The air temp was 55 degrees with the water consistently 81 throughout the morning. This is what the day started out looking like:
I marked fish and bait right off and consistently throughout the morning and the bite was ON! Here's a couple of sonar screen shots I took:
I started out casting the shallows which did not produce much, but allowed me some time to try to set up my camera on a small tripod, to take some self pics. Didn't work out so well, so I apologize for the composition of some of the pictures, but this solo rental thing was a learning experience! The timer thingy worked, but it was so time consuming to get set up that I just gave up and went with "arm reach" method, as you will see! LOL!
Anyway.....long story short, when I pulled off at 11:30 am (my back was killing me sitting on a cushion with no back support!), I had caught & released 42 fish. Lost quite a few more too. Most were crappie with 8 white perch, 1 yellow perch, 1 bluegill, 1 small largemouth and 4 rainbow trout - solo! Like I said....the were on the bite today!
The biggest hitter today was my tried & true, gray ghost marabou horse head hand tie. Road Runners are normally my fail safe, but today they were far and beyond effective. Also got some fish on BG straight tails and CB Slider Grubs. Problem with the grubs was that the bluegills kept biting off the tails!
Anyway, here a some of the fish I caught & released:
That was the only one I tried with the timer gizmo. Ugh!
When the little breeze died down around 10:30 am, and my back started acting up, I figured it was getting pretty close to calling it for the day. When I drove away, the air had reached 77 degrees, but the sun intensity out there was tough. Guess I'm getting to be a wimp! LOL!
God Bless you all and hope you had an opportunity to wet a line this past holiday weekend. God Bless America!

That's a nice color combo; that neutral gray would probably fish well in my waters as well. What size head is that on?
