7 is way better than a skunk for sure. Glad you guys got out; now if the bottom doesn't fall out of the thermometer again you'll be filling up the scorecard quickly.
Hard to believe....haven't been fishing since last year! Between myself, Walt, and my wife's illnesses; compounded by the lousy weather this spring with more snow than normal, we have not previously wetted a line. Incredible.
Anyway, Walt & I were finally able to put the boat in the water today. Launched at 8:40 am with the air in the low 60's and the water temp at 54 degrees. We literally killed 'em today! LOL.....not! When we pulled off at 1 pm, we had only caught & released 7 fish! That's an incredibly low number for us. But at least we didn't get skunked.
This was also our "maiden" voyage for the "side pulling" set up we worked on through the winter months. That worked great. The lack of wind in the morning afforded us with the opportunity to try this technique out. Here's a picture of the TM mount on Walt's boat:
And another angle:
Pretty "tricky" trying to maneuver this boat around in this fashion, but we finally got the hang of it. For those of you who are not familiar with Walt's boat, it's a "vintage" Tracker Panfish 16:
Great rig for our style of fishing. And this side pulling addition should make 2018 a good year! I wish I could say that we "slayed" 'em today.....but that would be stretching the truth a tad too far I fear. When we "pulled the plug" we ended our tally with only 7 fish! But at least we didn't get skunked. We tried various depths from 4' to 25' with many stops inbetween. Just could not find 'em today. I know they're there......maybe we should look up into the trees.....hmmmm!
So anyway.....to show you fine folks that we really did go fishing today, here's some proof:
Nice mixed bag, but the quantities were just not there....neither was the action today. Next week we should do better. Hope you all had a chance to wet your lines.

Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
Good to see you guys back in action....always enjoy your reports.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
