Unhappy My worst day on the lake ever

Well, I went out to Lake Nacogdoches today, and setup at the pipeline near the first cove. Within about 10 minutes a huge ski boat is coming straight at me. At the last second, they turn and throw about 3 ft. wake right toward me. I have to pull up my anchor and take 2 over the bow. I yelled their way and told them to go out a little farther. Well about 30 minutes later, here they come again. Within 20 yards of me. This one nearly flipped me over. They turned and kept going. The next pass was again within 20 to 30 yards of me. I pulled up the trolling motor, started up the big motor and went over to them. I was super nice. Just asked them if they could go out a little farther please because they almost flipped me over. The driver/dad said, "Fishing is north of the highline." Well, just because it says that you can't ski north of the highline, doesn't mean that you can't fish south of it. I reminded him about the laws in Texas of wake and how he is responsible for it. He just kept telling me to go north of the highline. I was pretty well ticked off at this point, so I floored it away from him to go get my buoys. Came close to one, shifted into neutral with my idle lever up, leaned over for the buoy and SNAP! My idle lever snaps OFF all the way to the nut. No way to put it back down to go in forward. Thankfully a really nice guy and his girlfriend towed me in with a boat that he had bought today. I don't know what I'm gonna do now. Summer just started, and now I'm without a boat...

I only got four keeper crappie by the time all this happened. BUT, I got my first quadruple today. Two crappie on each of my two poles at the same time. None were keepers. Sadness...

Sorry to here your troubles. But it is not only skiers, how about those wave runners and how many times have you had a big bass boat blow right by you? Its just a bad few that does it, but boy it sure can tick you off!! Ok thats enough ranting for me. Now go back and catch some slabs!! Good luck.

Man I had a wakeboarding boat do that to me the other day, so i just went to #3 and sat there for awhile. Sorry to hear about your rig, whenever I go and I have a little room I'll give you a call for sure. I also went out yesterday and I believe I was launching just as you got out of the water. I was having massive troubles getting my motor to start, but finally about 45 minutes later, i found the problem and got it running. Went to the first cove at Nac in 19-21 FOW and caught 4 keepers but i hate keeping fish that are just barely squeezing over 10 so I threw em back to get bigger. Lots of fish on structure and bait jumping everywhere, but nothing doing so we left. I'm putting a deck on the front of my bayliner this week/weekend so Im not gonna get to go again til next week but I'll live, just barely.
Keepin' tight lines all day long

That's a sad state of affairs.

Whenever that happens we need to get the offenders registration number and display it here for all to see. It may not do any good, but al least they will be publicly ostracised.

A digital picture published here may also help.

I pressed charges against a guy that buzzed a fishing dock than I was fishing off causing it to damn near toss me off. I called the Park Ranger and he called the water patrol and they gave him a ticket. No wake zone.

After two court appearances, the first one he got continued, I got to stand in front of the Judge and accuse him in court. He said he wasn't with in a half mile of the dock. The problem was that there was only one way in this cove that the water patrol found him in, and the only way in, was by the dock.

    He lied.

    He also got fined $250.

I've talked to the lake patrol officer (the one in the explorer) about this guy before, but he said he can't do anything unless he sees it. Anyone know the game wardens number for things like this? I didn't have my camera with me or I would've shot some great video of the whole thing happening. Next time, they won't be so lucky. They're safe until my part gets here. By the way, that little lever costs $50!

The Lake Patrol Officer on Lake Nac is a Nacogdoches Police Officer, part time, and pretty much a no show patrolman.

I saw the city partol boat this week for the first time in two years this week,,,,,installing buoys around the swimming area.

This lake has history of going from overpatrolling (harrassment) to NO patrolling. It would help, if the patrolman didn't want to do his job, he could just bring the patrol boat out and tie it up to a dock so there would at least be a presence.

Some of the things I see going on out here would curl your hair.

Until they put into law that no jet ski could come within 50' of any other boat or dock at more than an idle, I use to keep an old chugger plug (without the hooks on it) tied to a rod with a zebco 202 with 6 lb line. I could toss that thing 60 yards and fairly accurately. It is good casting practice and it will show you that people can come off a lake flea faster than they can go by. Got many laughs, got many cussin's, but the same ones never buzzed me again.
A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
