can't ketch right now ? try minnows , it ain't my thing but to be sure I could simply ruin them if I did use minnows , just saying
lots of really soft takes and super sketchy fish are on the menu if you live bait them.
if you are totally committed to a jig try a really light weight jighead and let it free fall and float around a bit down there and watch for a slack line take ...
if you are an LS person , watch your line when they are "just looking and won't commit " .....just saying

i miss way to many fish with real minnows , my patience level when I get bit is pretty much ZERO ....
