Just a curious question, not looking for spots. What is your favorite crappie lake (or lakes) in the DFW area? I have found Lake Lavon to be my current favorite with lighter boat traffic, good access, and abundant crappie. But seems to have limited fishable creeks. Have been on Ray Hubbard several times recently but many more pleasure cruisers and jet skis. More success there with bass than crappie.

for numbers of fish , lake worth
no hard core crappie angling there
no deep water and limited cover
buy you a lake permit before you launch there though
they will write you a ticket for not having one
they also patrol the heck out of that lake
best be 100% perfect legal when you visit
the docks there are just about so full of fish it ain't reality , you can sit on one sometimes
and just get tired of ketchn crappie ....

That sounds like an amazing fishery

pretty tough to beat for in town , due to the bad press on that lake and the air station there polluting the heck out of it back when , little to no one fishes it hard and to be sure it is loaded with fish .
it was at one time back when one of the most popular crappie stops in the area ,with tons of fish camps and so on and so forth .
now it is just a lake with very little in the way of crappie anglers visiting it and to be sure it is a ketch festival .

I am glad it is cleaned up and the fish population is doing well

right now the big fish are playful in there , the black crappie pretty much always run in herds ,but never really large , the white crappie get rather nice in there and it is a shallow lake , not much over 15 foot deep and not much for cover .
once you know where to look and which docks are winners and the scarce brush piles and such , big fish are pretty good most of the time .

How is the boat ramp by 820? Or would you put in somewhere else?

it is about always the best ramp , 3 wide and launches nicely
up on the north side it is also wide and not bad either
but I don't use that one as much
the lake sheriff boat dock is right beside that ramp on the north side too
so of course you will get checked way more often over there
one of them checked my credentials 3 times in 3 weeks
kind of a needless distraction and i asked him why he kept checking me
told me he didnt remember me and said he checks hundreds a week ....
be sure to get a lake worth permit on your trailer , or else you might come back to a ticket on your wind shield , just saying
