Tough enough that at least one of what most would say is one of the BEST guides in Texas cancelled all his trips to his home lake until mid march ....
his last report for bleak to say the least and it continues to trend that way
    the worm will turn though

It was tough during the day yesterday from 2-6. Caught one small crappie from during that period. A friend told me I was going too early as I normally leave around 6. Said the bite was late now, between 7 pm till midnight.

So I stayed instead of leaving. Between 6:30 till 9 I caught 8 crappie, a couple of keepers' rest were small. They were still biting when I left at 9 pm.

Now 8 more in a couple of hours doesn't sound like much but when you compare it to the 2-3 in 6 hours of fishing that has been my luck the last month you can understand how I felt about catching those 8 crappie. I had almost forgotten what the bite felt like.

More importantly several of those crappie were starting to put their war paint on.

Our problem is never finding fish.
    It’s getting them to bite.
Last 3 trips out zero fish, not even a peck.
Yesterday we at least caught a few, I think the waters just to cold.
Had one crappie had 3 big shad in it, zip in the rest of them.
