Just like Lake Austin after floods but biggest negative impact was the doubling or tripling of the grass carp so the lake side owners were not bothered by hydrilla and duckweed. Decimated the lake.

is the word , my most favorite walk to from work spot on the river is just not worth the walk anymore .
this year and last the crappie that used to be there in herds just dont exist best i can tell . not sure exactly why but to be sure they aint there in any numbers any more .
this time of year it should be a whack festival with bunches of big crappie coming in to hand model with me . but after the big floods a couple of years ago something drastically changed down there and the bottom isnt the same and the fish just dont hang around in there .
it seems to have silted in somewhat and is shallower and the cover on the bottom seems to be sparse as well . even the bridge columns on the other side that used to hold fish well dont seem to have anything going on either .to make matters worse little yellow bass are in numbers and drive you nuts .
in the end i was actually pleased i managed to ketch just one small black crappie . let me tell you this ....
THAT is depressing

grass carp eating all the cover aint a good thing , and to be sure vegetation control can flat kill an impoundment .
the tpw tried to do some weed control on one of the best bluegill lakes ever created to help the big bass in that lake and to this day that lake has never been the same .
the monster bluegill in there all but flew away and the lake got over run with crappie and catfish and the big bass it used to produce all the time went south with the bluegill .
on the upside when the local crappie guides are getting it handed to them on the other lakes they all run right over there .....lol
and if you want to get a rod ripped out of your hand the catfish are big and frisky in there ....

Them floods can sure change a place and sometimes not for the good. Sorry about your spot, but I have some here like that. Best crappie spot I ever saw was right here and in the last 20 years I have been here it's not like it once was, but I am talking like back in 1979 when it was maybe the best Crappie spot ever!
Hey I was even long line trolling little Roadrunners back then!

Living on Kentucky lake I can tell you that Asian carp infestation is a major problem.

Joe Pool is not as good this year as it was last year. I've managed a few good days this spring out on the lake but the slips don't contain the number nor the size they did last year.
Don't know why, just know the fishing was better last year.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.
cycles on lakes are common just like with pecans and acorns , but when you go and drastically change a spot , it might be a long time before it comes back if it ever does
