They are no longer taking people to the slips. That lasted one day, Sunday. They now say the water is shallow enough you can wade in to the docks.
LittleStick, bull bluegill and other types of bream are my favorite target using an ultralight rod. And they are hitting big time in front of my slip on H Dock. Don't know about the barge as I have never fished that barge.
I generally fish for bull bluegill around 5 or 6 pm, after I've caught enough crappie for my needs or if the crappier just won't bite.
This is my play time as I don't keep any of them unless somebody asks me to save a few for them. I love the fight they give on an ultralight rod. I have used just about everything imaginable as bait for them with success. But this year I am using pieces of uncooked hot dog (wiener, frank, whatever you want to call it) or crappie nibbles. I find both to be very productive. I feed more than I catch but it's a ton of fun.
Forgot to say, I don't think you can really steal the fish from a good spot. They move around too much in the course of a day. I know of one location on E dock that always has good crappie fishing. New fish must move into the spot to replace those caught there as too many have been taken out of that spot for all of them to have existed there at the same time.
Plus it is a very long walk from the barge to H dock. But rest assured, IF I can entice the crappie and bream to leave the barge and A dock to come to H dock I will.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.
