    Default Lake Arrowhead

Headed to Lake Arrowhead this coming week. Have never fished it before and hoping there are still a few spawning especially after our Easter weekend trip to Proctor was spoiled by the front. Any advice for Arrowhead or any word on the bite? Gonna give her heck.

Hello sir. I fish Arrowhead every week. Yes, there are still fish spawning all over the lake. There's always a good push of spawners in may,but its about to wrap up. Cattails and potatoe weed are most productive for that. A majority of the fish are post spawn now. Docks and brush in 8-12' are a good spot for them right now. All but 4 of the 18 derricks are located on along the dam in 40 foot of water. Those will hold lots of fish come summer. There are 3 derricks in a cove southeast of the dam, pretty easy to spot. All three are at different depths. Those are holding fish now, since they are a stones throw away from some spawning grounds. With the one close to the south bank being the most productive. The legs of the derricks are most productive. Also the drill shaft in the middle is good, if you can get to it.

There are few bridges you can fish. Henrietta bridge, located on the middle east side in a cove. Tons of crappie are taken there. Beware, lots of people could be there. I avoid it, I enjoy peace and quiet. I always find fish elsewhere. There are also three bridges on the very south end. With the furthest east bridge being the most productive and popular.

The state park has two piers. People do pretty well there. I avoid it. I fish from a kayak. So I give way to all people stuck on bank. They can have the public bank spots. I will find peace and fish elsewhere.

The water is always muddy to really muddy. It matters not. I still catch them. Any color they can see will work. I've been kind of fond of pink/black. One thing that has increased my strikes in the last week and a half is a smaller profile, and lengths. I'm talking no more than an inch and a quarter to maybe an inch and a half.

Hope this helps. Holler if you have questions.
