Default Which lake to break in motor?

The two closest lakes to me are Conroe and Houston. I知 getting a new boat this week and not sure where I want to go for engine break-in. I was leaning towards Duesson Park since it痴 wide open, not crowded and from what I heard the south end of the lake is pretty clear of hazards.

    Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

Try Lake Houston. You might run into SK, "The Crappie Whisperer"!

    LOL.....
For the most part it's wide open but I won't say it's free of hazards as there are sand bars, stumps and other structure over there.....
Use a map and run the channels.....
I will say if you get 50yrds or so off the markers along the dam you should be ok.....
I advise everyone to idle a route before running it.....
With all the rain we're getting down there i'm sure there will be floaters....

Congrats. Yes, pics. What motor will you be getting? I just bought one last week with the 200 Yamaha Sho. I was actually suprised that with the 4 stroke there is only a 2 hour break in period. After that, you can go as fast as you want or as slow as you want, but you can't go full throttle for more than 5 minutes at a time. That is for the next 8 hours on the boat. The first hour was brutal for me as I had the hotfoot and could only go about 1500 RPM which equated to about 7 MPH. I had boats passing me. The second hour, I had to hold around 3000 RPM. Basically get it up and on plane then back off to 3000 for an hour. Won't be bad though if you take some tunes. LOL I though about it too late, but the first hour I should have thrown a line in a trolled for stiper.

Good call on the tunes, will definitely remember that! I am getting the 150 SHO. The break in looks pretty decent. Although with the potential weather coming in it may just be a weekend of rigging and repeated wiping and oogling with a terry cloth LOL

Weather is garbage between today and tomorrow so will spend it rigging my Garmin and Livescope. Might knock out the two hour break-in Sunday morning.
