Default I'm not your typical fisherman

Cause a lot, maybe not all, fishermen can be as closed lipped as the fish. You know how it goes - Where'd ya catch em....In the lake! Or, In the lip! Lol! But I seem to find as much pleasure in sharing what I'm doing (working or not) as I do catching. Especially putting a dad with his kid on a spot that is hot for the moment, cause we all know what's hot today may not be tomorrow. So Wednesday on the Pines I went and fished brush piles that I had found close to the island and that were around the 15 -17 ft depth. Water temp has dropped from 90 a week earlier to 85. My buddy caught 5 and all I caught was 1 bass about 3lbs. I knew I'd be off the water for the next 12 days after Friday rolled around and I couldn't end like that, right. So I went back Thursday and started scrubbing up and down some stumps in the 18 ft range. I arrived around 0800 and I had only caught 3 or 4 dinks by noon on very light bites. Frustrated I was just about to go home. I Sab-sauced up one more time dropped down to 10, then 12 now at 15.......bam! Fish on! Net ready, a minute later, in the boat she went. So from noon to 3:30 I was able to fool 16 dumb ones. Don't like the flavor of the smart ones anyhow. No rhyme or reason they just decided it was time to eat. So hang in there, take some snacks and some drinks, enjoy the day and wait. Sometimes it's all in waiting on them.

    Look like some nice'uns.....

With as hot as it gets in the summer I like to be done before noon 1pm at the latest.....

If the bite is not right i'm moving until it is and that's usually all it takes is moving to find the active fish at that particular time....

It’s all good and glad you hung in there long enough! Before I lived here and back when I was younger a few friend and I use to come up here every weekend except winter and hunting season was on. We would come up Friday evening and fish all night and all the next day stopping only for breakfast and lunch. Of course back the. We were chasing bass, but a,so on occasion would catch some crappie or bluegills! We did that for 10 years and the really cool part was we learned about night fishing for bass from some article and we had this lake to ourselves for about 5 years before everyone else learned, lol! I do have to admit that was wonderful to have this huge lake to just us except every once in a while we would see a crappie fisherman with his light tied up someplace!
These days I try and teach what I do catching crappie all the time and some listen, some don’t, their loss, lol!

Great job.Seems like enjoyment of a trip dictates how the fish bite . Positive attitude helps .

Well I guess that explainedy problem on saturday. I wasnt fishing deep enough. I had reports of 12ft deep in 20fow. I never dropped below 14ft bc I kept getting very light bites. Ill be back on Pines friday if all goes good this week. Maybe the dumb ones have some more in the family tree.
