Yes sir... I've seen the same thing in some of the testes I've tied..... then when you wanna toss them and decide to give'um another try to turn out to be worthy....
i own a few plastics and hand ties that just don't seem to ketch fish , sometimes i think its just me and a lack of confidence in said baits but to be sure i have a few that just don't hunt .
case in point .... i bought a bag of "lucky strike" tube plastics about 2 or 3 years ago in a sort of clear with tiny red flecks in them ....a little milky looking and to be sure what i though would be smokers someday . 1 dollar on clearance they were and i thought i had me a deal . after repeated attempts in a few different locations and scenarios nothing !
fast forward to last Thursday and last night as well .....for some reason and i assume its like fine wine or alcohol these baits have come around to be proven lip rippers ....
go figure
i was hand tie testing and they went south on me a bit and i went over to this here tube and began to get bit again ....i eventually went back to hand tie testing but to be sure went on a run with them plastics in non bite situation ....
sometimes i don't know what i think i know for sure ...the confusion these darn fish can create is mind boggling i swear

I don't think there is a bait out there that Crappie won't bite, they just bite some more than others. I have been fishing with guys that would put some of the strangest color combinations of jigs and tutie fruity plastics on and out catch the rest of us.
FISHING, no better way to spend the day!
that's the truth for sure .....lots of times it just about can they see it

over the last few years I have started to use more of a natural bait color and try to stay away from funny colors but as stated earlier I have seen where fish will only hit the odd colors in various situations like water color, time of year. I guess all type of baits have a time and place
Ketchn when I saw a guy on that TV survivor shows, Alone is the name, anyway he made a fly out of almost nothing other than a feather and caught a fish using pole he made; I knew most anything with a hook can catch a fish! So not sure there is such a thing as a worthless bait?
Skip
I only carry 5 colors and 3 head sizes all year, every year
All solid body baits,I left the cheap tube stuff years ago
Not that my bait choice is expensive, just more durable with simple basic colors.
Size matters 4" baits till mid March, then 3" and down to 2" post spawn when there is more new spawn in the waters.
