Default Canyon Lake, TX fishing report

The crappie bite is finally improving up-river on Canyon Lake, again. When the water temperature falls below the mid 50’s, the crappie are holding in the middle of the channel close to the bottom. Once the water warms, the fish are moving into the trees and suspending about 6’-8’ on the edges of the channel. Tight-lining produces best when deep then change to slip bobbers when they move up. Minnow, jigs with minnows, and just jigs are all working.
The quality, for Canyon, is very good. Very few undersize crappie are being caught with several from 12” to 13 Ό” each day. Egg development is good and with some freshwater finally making it to the lake, I expect a very good fishing season.

Welcome! Nice mess of fish. Like those chairs. What are they? Just up the road from you. Will have to make it down that way soon.

Danny, the seats are by Millennium, the double seat fames are by Dub-L-Seats and rod holders by Bee Ready Rod Holders.

Thanks Jack. There four marinas on Canyon lake but no private docks. Some of the other lakes I fish have docks to shoot.

Now, you boys have great crappie fishing. Much better than around here.

KY has got much better crappie fishing than this area of Texas but we do manage to catch some.
