    Default LOP Corps

I've got brushpiles that I've been needing to get out for the last 2 months. A friend of mine said the Corps consider it illegal to drop brush in the lake. I called them and sure enough they said absolutely not. Has anyone else heard of this?

Went up there yesterday for a couple hours and caught a some off of what stumps I could see..

Don't know since it's a Corps lake, we have the Sabine River Authority here and we don't have that issue. I know lots of lakes let you put in brush piles, but don't know about that lake, sorry.

I been fishing Pines for 50 yrs. and we own a place there. I lost count how many piles we put out. I have never been told not put them out, however there is a "new man" in at the Corp office and he thinks he OWNS the lake. I see other boats with brush or trees in the boat they going to dump. The Corp puts out piles of tires, so GO for it. Im putting some out this weekend.

I know where there is one ramp that is not connected to a corp parking lot and you can see a long way from it. If i wanted them and wanted it to stay quite I'd do it at night. Also the ramp I am talking about is not at a marina.

I know all of the ramps on the lake... I think I've got a plan.. It's just ridiculous that the corps doesn't want you to drop brush yet they dump tires in the lake..

I dropped them today... I did notice that someone sunk a bass boat out in front of alley creek.. They had it tied to a stump and was bobbing up and down like a cork.

Had any luck yet off the brush you dropped? Anyone got a report on what the cats are doing on LOP?

I went yesterday and no crappie was home, just yellow bellies and catfish... Up until about June, we were fishing pines a lot for catfish. When the wind blows from the south into hurricane creek, the it creates a big mud line. When the wind is coming up of the north, we'd fish around watts island.. We would take 16-20' BNM telescoping rods, #4 treble , catfish Charlie and a cork any where from 12"-36", no weight because the Charlie is heavy.. We would absolutely smoke the fish. It's nothing to go catch 75 fish in 3 hours fishing like that. We wade or just walk down the bank. The windier, the better. I started fishing at Fork like that, in mid July, and I really don't have any desire to catfish pines anymore. I love catching those 3-7lbs channels on those long poles... And fork is the place. Pines is loaded to the gills with 12-14" fish, perfect eating size... But every angler is always looking for the bigger bite... You could go out in front of pops landing or alley creek with some mays and catch all you want... As long as the wind is blowing hard enough to mud the bank, you can catch them like that all year around.
