    Question Aquilla Lake Question

I haven't been to Aquilla since 1987. The bait shop listed on the TP&WD website is wrong. Number has been disconnected. I live in far north Fort Worth at Hicks Airfield and don't want to haul my boat that far without knowing if live bait is available nearby.
Wife is off for two weeks and we were hoping to try different lakes for some crappie. They seem to be pretty rare in Eagle Mt Lake!
Can anybody give me some info?

Well, can't expound on the live bait subject...........but, Aquilla has always been a sandbass lake for me. Never fished for crappie there or caught one there.
And, yep.............right now crappie are hiding out in unknown places on Eagle Mtn. Lake. My only suggestion would be Weatherford Lake since they still have
a launch in the water. There are crappie biting there at this time. Push/pull cranks along the dam where the overflow is located. Good luck.

If you can't find live bait try "Gulp Alive Minnows". They have worked well for me when I run out of minnows. These are well scented and in my opinion catch as many if not more than regular minnows. I always carry a bottle of them with me when i go fishing just in case I can't find any bait.
