where to go??
I am going fishing sometime this week , and i was wondering what would be a good place to go for crappie and catfish . I have one spot in mind. Its the part of lake conroe under the fm 1097 bridge. I've never been there. Anyone know any tips about that particular spot, or just any good spots for crappie and catfish?

Fishing the 1097 bridge is usually a good spot. Try to stay in about 10ft of water or deeper if possible on these cold days and go shallower on the warmer days. Crappie will move up into the warmer water just to check things out. I live on Lake Houston and fish this area most of the time but do get to fish Lake Conroe with my brother from time to time.

I fish the 1097 often in the winter and i look for the river channel going through get in the 35 feet depth .
drop your bait to the bottom and slowly crank it up counting each crank off bottom till you get a hit .
then you will know at what depth the fish are holding usually around 4 to 6 cranks off bottom.
mostly they stay around the north pylons .
