Default Lake Stamford Fishing Barges About to Open

Visited with Vance Proctor at Lake Stamford Marina and two new fishing/crappie barges will be in operation soon. One was recently reworked and will be open next week (09-12-11 week)and another (brand new) will be completed very soon within the next three weeks. Both of these barges are south of the old crappie barge with the newest one apprx. 100 yards south and the remodeled one maybe another 200 yards further south. Both will be open for pay fishing for a fee. They will NOT be enclosed with a roof on the reworked one and not sure about a roof on the newest one. Water depth currently where they are or are to be placed is apprx. 12-14 feet. The lake is currently down apprx. 5 plus/minus feet.

***NO-the old crappie fishing barge has not been fixed and it is not open for fishing with no expectation to fix it***.

For more information you can contact Vance Proctor or his Son, Neil Proctor at Lake Stamford Marina (325) (773-2095).

The Marina is open at Lunch now and has cabins and RV camping spots if you are interested. They do stock a variety of bait, including punch bait and live bait.

Only fishing report I was made aware of, that a woman and her husband caught several large crappie in the channel north of the bridge on minnows.

    Good Luck,

Hopefully Vance will have it brushed out after final set up where the fish will have something to nest in. Better get those long handles out of the moth balls.

Newly constructed dock is in the water and they were finishing the walkway today (10-05-11). The other dock is finished with a new walkway and railings. Should be brushed out very soon and ready to use within the next couple of weeks. Both docks had a roof, but are not enclosed. Call for pricing and number of fishing poles. Crappie fishing should get hot by 1st of December thru the colder months. Catfish should be good right now.
