    Default Got on Rayburn today

Took the wife and son fishing today. The wind wasn't down as much as they said it would be but we had a good time anyway. We only kept 4 good keepers and sent back a lot of small ones and a few odd looking Crappie, some green things and some with worms growing off their face and a silver/blue thing that croaked loudly.
It was a nice outing sense we haven't got to go in a long time with the weather and being sick. I did get some new toys while I was laying around the house though. I bought a couple BnM "Russ Bailey" rods and they are great, I bought some Slab Sauce and Liquid Minnow, and got me a hat and shirt from Crappie.Com to make me look good. The Liquid Minnow worked good, I will try the slab sauce next outing. The hat and shirt look good but they didn't improve my looks any.
The lake is low so most of my holes were to shallow so I just started looking at deeper water and the trees. With the help of the new DVD from Ernest Paty I was able to see fish in the trees and actually caught some when we stopped.
Boy I am sounding like a hawker with all these products I'm talking about.
We caught our fish North of Jackson Hill Marina in 17-25' of water and were fishing from 7-12'. I was using a blue and silver tailed jig and my wife and son were using minnows. They went through 1/2 pound of minnows and I wore myself out with jigs. The water temp was only 75 degrees due to all the rain that has hit the lake but didn't raise it any.
Hope to be healed up enough to do it again next week. Ferdi aka Fred

Hey Fred! How's things? Haven't been on the forum much lately. I moved back to Missouri early last year and finally got out this spring and did some crappie fishing. We flt tore them up at Lake of the Ozarks a few weeks ago. Haven't caught crappie like that in a looooong time. Seemed like they were everywhere. Anyway, hope all is well. Good fishing.

I was on Rayburn from Friday thru Sunday. I found fishing to be good. I didn't limit any day but caught my 50 possession limit over the three days. That's a full 48 qt igloo full and all I want to clean. I found them on scattered brushpiles in 20 to 30 feet of water. All were caught on white/Chart tube jigs filled with crappie nibbles. The wind was not too bad in the mornings but rough from about 11AM to dark each day.

Scott it's good to hear from you. I still have the same email address. Send me your address and phone number. I have a son in Camdenton Mo, does the afternoon show on Spirit FM, and we visit him and maybe we can get in touch on one of our trips. Glad you got in on the spawn bite. I missed it again this year but i am thankful to get out and fish every so often. Keep in touch. How's "Ole Slippery" doing? She's bought grown now isn't she? Time to be cleaning your guns when them boy's start calling on her. Fred aka Ferdi

Glad you did so good. We fish off of a Pontoon and the wind really does a number on us but we get to be out as a family. We try to stay in the shade as much as possible too so we wait for the sun to get overhead, medicines make two of us real sun sensitive so we have to be careful as much as possible. Won't be long before we start night fishing some so we can relax more. Ferdi aka Fred

Got the trolling motor back together and running great so we will give it a try next week. Don't do weekends unless we have visitors. Got me back on antibiotics so have to stay covered from head to toes but can't wait to give it a try again. Those few crappie fried up really good and we are out. Ferdi aka Fred

That is a welcome report, Crappiekyle. Ferdi did someone buy the American Angle? From CrapieKyle's report those White Perch should be at the bridge soon. I like fishing the bridge because of the shade, old guys have to stay out of the son. Take care, J.A.

WPJ, yes the American Angler is under NEW OWNERS as of this weekend. Pat is going back to Colorado to be with Carol shortly. I have not met the new owners yet but will see about doing that tomorrow. I bet the bridge is pretty busy right now(because of the shade) and there should be fish on the bridge. Got the boat put back together so now I'm waiting on the wind to settle down some. Ferdi aka Fred
