Default Night stalking on Lake Belton

Got to get out and get some night fishing in the last couple of days on Belton. I finally got on some fish. I've been trying to find some "new" water for the past couple of months and had to back to my old stomping grounds to get some good steady action. Since Texfisher wimped out on me, I had to go at it alone.:D Forgive him, he knows not what he does!

Been using minnows and jig/minnow combo. Best fish were still in 20-25 ft. I've been catching them from 12-18 ft. In the past two days I've caught close to 50 crappie. A lot of 9.5 inchers though. I've only kept 14 good ones. The biggest so far from this spot has been 13.5 inches (1 lb 3 oz). water temp is hovering around 57 so it won't be long until I get a limit of slabzillas. I know the bigger fish are in this area, just haven't been able to pinpoint them yet.

    Good luck ya'll...smedley

I still have a taste for crappie, but grilled pork chops are pretty good too. Smedley, I cooked enough chops I could have swapped you a few crappie for chops. UMMM Goood. I am chopless now since I only caught the two Bass today, I had to eat the rest of the chops. LOL, See you on the lake.

I fished again last night and caught a bunch of white bass and hybrids. two of the hybrids were 18" exactly. A couple of the whites were pushing 15". Only kept one crappie and lost one estimated at about 2 lbs at the boat.

Heycods, most of the crappie I've been keeping were full of eggs. I just can't seem to figure out if the bigger ones are deeper than I've been fishing or shallower.

Larry, the next time I come home from the lake with a cooler full I'll stop by your house and leave one in your boat so you can get some crappie stank in it. I've got a freezer full of chops, chicken, and burger but I'm cooking fish tonight!
