    Default Not crappie but...

I took off late yesterday (7/5) with my son, neighbor and his boys to do a little fishing at lake welsh. We were catching a bunch of bass when all of a sudden I hooked into something BIG! I was throwing a 1/8oz roadrunner on a 6ft MH spinning rod spooled with 12lb test. Well he took off and never stopped. I was scratching my head because I never could get his head turned back to me so I can reel whatever it was in. Finally after about 20 minutes I reeled in a 36lb op catfish.

The reason I could never get his head turned to me was because he was hooked in the tail! WOW I bet he peeled out 100 yds off that reel and it was toast after that battle!

It was a great trip! I caught that monster. We and the boys all caught several fish.

Man! You could tie a rope onto that thing and let it pull you around. Looks like someone took a bat to it's back too!

Sure hope you released it back, since it was hooked in an area other than the mouth.

I heard from a couple of cat guys during the week and they said that was a common look during spawning season. They like to get into tight spots in the rocks, and even bite each other while doing the deed
