You ought to be on Lake Wylie or Lake Norman near Charlotte NC on a Saturday from June through August. One rich superstar on Ft. Loudon, count your blessings! You can't swing a dead crappie without hitting one on either of those lakes during that time period. My boat went into hybernation for the summer because of it. It is nothing to see 30 of those 30' - 40' (and bigger) cigarrette style boats (Fountain, etc...) racing on those lakes. Poker runs, for boats, are common. God help you if you are in the way. My Triton will run right at 70 mph. Rarely do I go over about 45 or 50, hard to believe I know, but true. But I have had them blow by me when I'm tail walking at 70. Most of the time the driver is not really paying attention and his passengers are all hammered. At least they make them crawl under bridges. Otherwise there isn't much slowing them down. It really is a scary at times. As I said, just be grateful that you only have one - for now .
